London Accordion Orchestra present their Autumn Concert on 23rd October 2021 at 5pm at the beautiful St. Gabriel’s Church in Pimlico, supported by London Accordion Players.
This will be our return to performances and we can’t wait to welcome back our loyal supporters. The audience capacity will be capped at 150 (50%) to make sure everyone has plenty of room to enjoy the music.
This concert will showcase the most dynamic accordion collective in the UK. With over 50 musicians in the 2 ensembles we will demonstrate the huge variety of repertoire we play. Orchestral folk music from Eastern Europe, new wave Tango from South America and a World Premiere by Ian Watson.
Today we launch our next adventure. We will commission Ian Watson, our music director and composer, to write a new piece specially for GAPO. Ian is a professional accordionist, and due to the pandemic, most of his performances have been cancelled.
So he will write this new commission, called ‘Horizon’, over the next 4 weeks.
All commissioners names (either individuals, orchestras or organisations) will be printed in the official published score.
To register please email us with the part you would like to play and the Commissioner Level you would like to choose.
The Global Accordion Project Orchestra has come together for a second video performance. This time, accordionists from all over the world perform Ian Watson’s “Song Without Words”.
On Tuesday, 5th May, at 7pm UK time, the London Accordion Orchestra did something a bit different…
The orchestra were due to perform this piece in Croatia last week. As this wasn’t possible we invited you into our homes and gardens and presented ‘LAO House Music’.
It was LAO, but not as you know it.
Special guests
Andrew Skeet – Piano
Tim Weller – Drums
Tosh Flood – Guitar
Simon Little – Bass Guitar
Supported by players from our second orchestra ‘London Accordion Players’.
